From the recording Dimming Aquila: Volume 1 (Greatest ALTAiR Contributions)
Fun fact: this song was initially written for the concept album during the phase in which I was co-writing it with Erik. But as my desire to complete the project was held up with missing samples and various other creative hindrances, I took the project solo, leaving aside some great tunes that Erik wrote and that we worked on together. This was one that I had written solo, but didn't really fit the way I altered the story, so I ended up leaving it off. I love the bass on this one so much, though. If you notice in the lyrics, it mentions "The Circuit," the artificial intelligence behind the augmentations Jeff received in the story.
Lyrics
Ultraviolet
Infrared
Masked by eyes so limited
Flanked by flesh
And circuitry
Both now live
In harmony
What is the
Point of life?
Every holy book
Would claim the proof
All I know is
I've got to perfect
The mechanism
Of Finding the Truth
Somewhere in this world I hate
There's an element to win this debate
The path of knowledge feels so sublime
Finding the Truth in this paradigm
Digging deep
Into the dirt
No one said
This wouldn't hurt
Relentlessly
Pursuing my goal
Algorithms replaced
My soul
What is the
Point of love?
Even programs
Have an end to their code
All I feel
In place of regret
Compulsory completion
Of the download
Growing ever
Closer now
Is this enlightenment
I'm feeling somehow?
Imagine if I started
From youth
The processes
Of Finding the Truth
Ultraviolent
Images
Screams of
Warning messages
Flanked by tanks
And mushroom clouds
Machine guns firing
On crowds
What is the
Point of running?
If it ain't you
Then they'll target the youth
All I found was death
And suffering
But that's the price
Of Finding the Truth
Feel the death grip
On your throat
The Circuit has
No antidote
Ripping out
Every last damn tooth
Would feel much better
Than Finding the Truth
