From the recording re-Render me: Long Story Edition
This was a hard one to leave off of the Short Story Edition, but here it is, at least. I intended this to be the part of the story Jeff installs his secret weapon, but adapted the comic to include it in the Gray Matter portion of the story
Lyrics
These eyes are no more to me than tools
To remind me of all that's lost
And are stained with the bleak future that is to come
They shall be the last thing I upgrade
To look above and gaze at nothing
From the empty sockets of my eyes
Or maybe something of the infrared spectrum
To be a cursed thing that never dies
I can't forget this nightmarish scene
Everything else has been wiped clean
Program loop, destroy Preim
Make him pay for this heinous crime
The ancient quest to better oneself
Circuitry betwixt your arteries
Seeing everything in brand new ways
Verbatim images of memories
I can't forget this nightmarish scene
Everything else has been wiped clean
Program loop, destroy Preim
Make him pay for this heinous crime
This upgrade will be my secret weapon
Eyes are windows to the soul
His army will never see me coming
But I can see through the stain of memory
The doctor now has gone too far
Humanity is now a subroutine
Is the life that I've been striving for?
Doomed to live forever as a machine
I can't forget this nightmarish scene
Everything else has been wiped clean
Program loop, destroy Preim
Make him pay for this heinous crime
I can't forget the Stain of Memory
Haunting every action of my life
What is a life if nothing will fade?
Where is the button that will bring the cascade?
